Last chance for Sabres

(PM EWHL) European Women’s Hockey League: in EWHL Supercup defending Champion EHV Sabres will play MAC Budapest on Saturday and only a win will help the Austrians to keep their hopes for a final 4 qualification alive…

The Sabres have 8 points from 6 games, MAC has 6 from 5 matches. So generally for both teams loosing is strictly forbidden. In league these teams already played against each other in 2019-20 – and the Hungarians won 5-3 with Nauboris and Gasparics scoring 2 goals each. Even though this shows already how strong the league newcomers are, it would be anyway a big surprise if the titleholder would not manage to qualify for the top 4…

In league KMH Budapest will play in Villach against the KEHV Lakers on Saturday and in Ljubljana against Olimpija on Sunday. Everything else than two clear wins for the Hungarians would be a big surprise.

And the duels between the Salzburg Eagles and Hvidovre IK Selects can be expected to be even much more close – while the guests from Denmark try to get their first points this season, Salzburg‘s start with 3 points from four games could also have been better…
