(PM EWHL) European Women’s Hockey League: on coming weekend the EWHL Supercup Final 4 Tournament will take place in Budapest…

Generally qualified for the Final 4 Tournament were KMH Budapest, ECDC Memmingen, ESC Planegg and MAC Budapest. After the withdrawal of Memmingen fifth placed Sabres Vienna will have now the chance to take part. The Austrians are defending Champion and missing the qualification for this season’s final 4 was already quite a big surprise. So they of course gladly accepted the new situation.

Big favourites are host KMH Budapest. They did not loose any game this season (7 regular time wins in League, 6 regular plus two overtime wins in Supercup) and go for the second Supercup Championship in club history after 2017-18. Now in the first semi final game they will face titleholder Sabres Vienna, where they won the preliminary round game 4-3 in overtime. There Alexandra Huszak was the matchwinner with 2 goals (among the game winning goal) and one assist. She was also the most active with 12 shots. In any case a very close game can be expected already on Saturday.

The other semi final game will be played between ESC Planegg from Germany and MAC Budapest. In preliminary round Planegg took all 3 points after a 3-1 in Kisstadion and so of course they are favourized for making it to the final game. But it will not be easy as newcomer MAC already surprised with the final 4 qualification. So the Hungarians can play without any pressure and their topscorer Fanni Gasparics is also expected to be in the line-ups – she was not taking part in the preliminary round game against Planegg.
