Last Round before Christmas Break

06 Dezember 2019

(PM EWHL) European Women’s Hockey League: on coming Saturday and Sunday most EWHL teams will play their last games in 2019 already…

Only Hvidovre (no games this weekend) and Ljubljana will play on December 21+22. All others will have a long Christmas break until 11th, 12th or even 18th of January, depending on the dates of the U18 World Championship Tournaments. In this long time there will be lots of national team activities, some import players from overseas will use the time for a trip back home…

But before that still „hard work“ is waiting for the teams: leader Aisulu Almaty will play against Team Poland / Silesia Brackens twice in Zeltweg/AUT. The league newcomers are still in the race for a top 4 position and so every point is important.

Also the two still unbeaten teams from Budapest are on a road trip. MAC coach Zoltan Fodor and defender Eniko Toth will face „their“ team from last season on Saturday again (Lakers), but the Hungarians are clear favourites in this game as well as against last-ranked Olimpija Ljubljana on Sunday. As favourites also KMH will go to Salzburg and Bolzano, though their opponents still can make it to the final 4 themselves and so will do all for a surprising result.

On Sunday the two Austrian teams Vienna Sabres and KEHV Lakers will fight for points in Vienna. Both teams need points urgently – while the Lakers want to move away from 9th place, the Sabres fight for a top 4 spot.
