Bolzano Also Wins Second Meeting With Silesia

Just a few hours after their first clash – which the South Tyroleans won 4:1 – the EVB Eagles South Tyrol and Tauron Metropolia Silesia faced each other again in the European Women’s Hockey League on Sunday. The team from Bolzano prevailed 7:6 in a goal festival and extended its lead in the table.
Both teams played out an open exchange of blows over 60 minutes. The visitors from Poland took the lead early on, but the Eagles quickly turned the game in their favour. Thanks to two braces from Samantha Smigliani and Kristin Della Rovere, the team from Bolzano pulled away to 5:2 by the end of the first period. Tauron Metropolia Silesia showed morale and never gave up. They even closed the gap to 4:5, 5:6 and 6:7 – but Bolzano managed to hold on to this narrow lead. The still unbeaten South Tyroleans thus extended their lead in the table.
